Yep you guys were right. I made my order back on like January 4th, and two of the items shipped immediately. The other three didn't ship, saying they were backordered. A week later I sent an e-mail telling them that I needed to the Greek syntax for a class, and needed an update on the backordered items. They sent me an e-mail saying that they had just shipped the syntax.

So, I waited another week and sent an e-mail saying that I wanted a status on my backordered books, and received this response..."Your books are currently backordered." Needless to say, I was fuming, but didn't want to write them an angry e-mail yet...so I politely wrote back the next day saying that a response like that was not sufficient, and I needed to know the actual status of the backorders. I didn't receive a response.

So I sent the same e-mail again a couple days later. I didn't receive a response...so I sent it the next day. I received a response saying something to the effect that they didn't believe my e-mails were written in the spirit of Christ for that Spirit gives patience.......

I recorded all of the correspondence and e-mailed Paul K. I just want my money back....I would rather spend my money at Lifeway...and that would only further my anger at Christian bookstores/companies.

Moral of the story....don't shop at Discerning Reader.

Yeah, the next time I'm given gift certificates there by someone thinking they are doing the right thing I'm either going to politely ask for them to return them, or just let them sit.

Hmmm, I still have not received Edwards or Pipers works. I wrote to them last week asking them to cancel my order and refund the money to the person who bought me the gift certificates. Needless to say, I have yet to receive a response.

I definitely would. I would lodge a complaint and if you send it by email, carbon DR on it.
