Downloading Kindle Books

I do not have a Kindle, but I have a Kindle app on my iPod Touch and on my laptop. I am having a problem with downloading books on Monergism.com's website. I've tried downloading Jonathan Edward's A Treatise on Grace and J.C. Ryle's Holiness. However, I am not able download these to my iPod. They download nicely to my laptop (and other books I've purchased/downloaded on my iPod Touch show up there "archived"), but I cannot manage to move those two books over to my Touch. What am I doing wrong?

I'm looking forward to some answers here.....I'd like to download from other libraries and dump them into my Kindle for Mac.

Apparently I've asked the question no one has dared ask before!

Does this mean I will never be able to have books from anywhere but Amazon on my Touch?

I found instructions here. The page has instructions for saving and opening eBook files for various devices (the actual Kindle, Apple products, the Nook, and a Droid phone). I'm not exactly sure what format you would want for reading one of their books using the Kindle app on the PC. I successfully downloaded and installed a free book they had last week for reading in the iBooks app on my iPhone. BUT, my husband had to help me figure out where to place the file so that it would show up on the bookshelf after I sync'd my iPhone.

So, make sure you're a) downloading the correct version; and b) make sure you know how to sync it with your device if you're going to read it that way.

OK, apparently the problem I am having is that I hadn't downloaded the (free) iBooks app. I've done that now. However, I still can't drag the books I have (Holiness and A Treatise on Grace) to my Touch. I believe this may be because I downloaded them in the .mobi format instead of ePub. Is there any way to fix this? Or am I still doing something wrong?

Here's what I did, because I initially did exactly the same thing you did. (Keeping in mind that it was a free book I was working with.) I re-downloaded the correct version. Then I had to place it into a folder that would sync correctly with my iPhone; in my case, I created a folder called eBooks within My Documents and placed the downloaded ePUB file in there. Then, apparently that folder will sync when I sync my iPhone. I'm not entirely sure how it knows to look in that folder, and my husband was walking me through these steps, but it worked. I hope this is helpful.
