Drunk Bees!!!

I have a pear tree in my yard that's shedding it's pears. I've been at work for a few days and so the pears on the ground have obviously been fermenting on the ground. Now I have bees which were feasting on the pears flying half cocked into me, my computer and my poor dog! Never seen drunk bees, but let me tell ya....I'm gonna send a few of them to the big house and the others I'll sip Spotted Cow with and ask them all about the birds and the.....ok, sorry!

Hahahaha, yes they are drunk! Wish I had a video camera! They are above the legal .08 limit and are crashing into my computer my head etc! At least they are harmless...

What is the outside temperature? At about 55F they go into hibernation mode. If it is just above that, they get sluggish.

Ha! This reminds me of a story that was in the news not too long ago about a pony that was eating fermented fruit, became drunk, and fell into a family's swimming pool. The Fire Dept. had to be called to pull the drunk animal out.

I'm not Tim, but I am a beekeeper. I've never seen drunk bees before. I have seen bees disoriented and 'loopy', however. It usually comes from pesticides.

Never seen loopy bees, but I have seen very loopy houseflies from a rat that ate the bait we have and died in the wall. Those were the dumbest, slowest moving flies ever.

When I was a kid, we'd take the used thimble-sized communion cups after the Lord's Supper, catch flies and keep them in the cups for a while and then release them. They'd walk around in loopy circles trying to fly (unsuccessfully). I don't know if it was because they were drunk or from having their wings coated with sticky wine, but it sure was funny.
