Puritan Board Freshman
A good friend just told me he is attending a Four Square Church. Any one know about this denomination. He has recently left an Assembly of God Church.

I was in the Foursquare Church for over 20 yrs. It is very pentecostal and charismatic depending on each individual church. Mine was approaching a mega-church size when I left. Very seeker friendly. No good teaching to speak of. No liturgy. All anecdotal type preaching. Band up front praise and worship. Ack!!!

Is that the one in Kirkland, WA? My husband and I visited it about a decade ago. (We lived in that area then..) Lots of video, lots of media. At the time we went, Grant Goodeve (played the oldest child 'David? on Eight is Enough) went there. I think he donated a lot of things and seemed to be part of thier worship/song team. I don't know about now. We only went once and never went back.

No, but a carbon copy of it called New Life Center. I always hated the Center part. :um: Yes my church had a huge stage and two big tv screens. We occasionally saw movie clips on these that pertained to the sermon.

It had everything but the disco ball. You could buy a latte in foyer too. Did I mention the rock climbing wall in the youth arena??

My friend did mention that the church had a Starbucks coffee shop in the church. Which I thought was the oddest (I guess) thing I have ever heard of in a church. When I asked about the preaching, He said they stay away from anything heavy at worship. That is best saved for small group.

You didnt have a disco ball?!?!?! They were missing out :o My old church had one for a while with all the flash lights and everything but then it had to go.

What does the name mean though? What does 4 square imply?

Also, what is a full Gospel church? Does this imply some are 1/2 Gospel churches? hahahaha

The foursquare gospel is the fourfold works of Jesus: The Savior, The Baptizer with the Holy Spirit, The Healer, and The Soon-Coming King.

The Foursquare Church actively participates in the National Association of Evangelicals, The American Bible Society, Pentecostal/Charismatic Churches of North America, the Pentecostal World Conference, and the Evangelical Fellowship of Missions Agencies.

Here is my old church's website. www.newlifecenter.org/ Check out the "what we believe" comments in the "about" section.

And look at all the pictures of the beautifully healthy and wealthy people.

They look like Mormons....where are the real people?

r.

It's the stepford church. They are not real. :( :( I actually was very saddened by going to that website and reading the statement of faith etc. I went to the staff page and was reminded of people I know who are still there and in deception. :( To God be the glory for getting me out of there!!
