I was on FB crying about how it wasn't private when a friend of mine that I've known for about 27yrs gave me a link on how to fix that annoying problem. Here is the link.

1. Go to the top right of your facebook page and click "Settings" and select "Privacy Settings".

>>> Click "Profile" and then turn everything to "only friends". My rule is - if they want to read about my profile/info and see my pics, they have to be a friend I have confirmed. I don't want people who are a friend of one of my friends being able to see my stuff without me knowing.

2. Repeat step one (Settings >> Privacy Settings) but this time click "Search"

>>> Only check the boxes "profile pic", "a link to add me as friend", and "a link to send me a message". This way if someone is trying to find you - they can see your pic to make sure it's you and not someone else, and they can then either ask you to be a friend or send you a private message asking the same. Otherwise - they get nothing. You don't need them to be able to see your friends...YET.

3. Don't get caught up in the "gift" thing. It is just a way to get you sucked into advertising gimmicks and who knows what else. It's BS. Just click "ignore" when you get one.

4. Never press the "allow" button. It "allows" FB do give your profile info to wherever the link leads you. Of course they don't tell you ahead of time where that is.

5. Limit your "friends" to real friends. If you have over done your friend acceptances, you can go to your friends list and remove any you want. They are not notified you have done so. You just no longer show up on their list.

With that, you ought to be good. :judge:
