I just received a phone solicitation from Church Publishing. The nice sounding young man on the other end wanted to me to order and use in my church a new small group study which "addresses fundamental questions that adults struggle with as faith matures." I listened politely until he told me this study was written by Marcus Borg. He seemed a bit frustrated when he could no longer give me his sales pitch through my very loud laughter. I finished the phone conversation by telling the young man through my laughter, "I would not even walk across the street to listen to Borg's heresy." He wished me a good day as I did him. I'm still chuckling.
