Lawn Mower Settlement

"Wrong horsepower ratings?"

I think this is a perfect example of a stupid lawsuit.

And even though I've got the "right" to file a claim, I'm not going to because I think this lawsuit is legally sanctioned thievery.

The only lawn mower I own looks like this:

It used to have more power, but has gradually slowed down over the years. Nobody warned me that would happen.

Ahahahahaha! VictorBravo! I have mower just like that too! It goes slower than it should and makes me breathe hard. I wonder what is wrong with mine? That lawsuit there is nuttier than Uncle Elmo's fruitcake.... Now if those companies made a lawnmower with a loose blade that caused the ocassional amputation of a limb or perhaps a decapitation or two... now there would be grounds for seeking monetary damages and ONLY from those that were actually injured. Gee, I bought this here 12 HP lawnmower and she's only got 10.... I'm gonna SUE. Now, how can you possibly TELL how many HP a lawnmower has? This is going to cost those poor companies millions of dollars and most likely raise the price of lawnmowers. It might even force one or two out of business and now innocent families are paying the price over a completely frilvolous lawsuit that was no doubt ruled on by a liberal judge. Sigh. Ben is absolutely right. It's sanctioned thievery. I got on some list once for a class action for asbestos. I breathed in a ton of the stuff when I did brake jobs back in the 80's. Mask? What's that? Still don't wear one. I tossed the letters. It isn't like we thought the stuff was cotton candy. Even back then we kinda knew it was bad stuff but so was half the chemicals and oil and everything else we had our hands in almost non stop for up to 14 hours a day. The ONLY time a lawsuit is appropriate is if a company made a product that resulted in injury of some kind and it is proven they were just plain negligent AND you have to show proof that you were injured and suffered loss of some kind as a result. If the steering wheel of my truck comes off in my hands while I am going down the freeway and I end up upside down in a Safeway, Chevy is gonna be hearing from a guy in a three piece suit that's holding a briefcase but if somebody files a lawsuit and wins because the shade of white they used in the paint doesn't properly match the tag on the door...I won't be filing.

I don't get all the negative posts.

"You shall have just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin: I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt."
Leviticus 19:36

"A false balance is an abomination to the LORD, but a just weight is his delight."
Proverbs 11:1
