Someone in our local paper has written an article to which I am responding. In this article she criticizes what she calls "male entitlement" but it is never defined. I have not heard this phrase before and it seems to bear a feminist character but it is being used by a professing Christian to negate biblical arguments on male headship.

Does anyone have any knowledge that would help me?

Is there a link available to the article in question?

No.

Please understand that I realize that context is important and that I should not import some other meaning into the text. I just wanted some feedback to make sure I am not way off in my response.

Male entitlement is another way of saying male privilege. It is a feminist buzzphrase.

It's used to describe variations of the "Old Boys Network" into which a woman struggled to enter.

For the sisterhood, "speaking truth to power" entails lambasting "male entitlement/privilege" as the root of all kinds of evil. The structural nature of our society confers rank and privilege on men regardless of their personal behavior or ideological alignment in much the same way as being "white" puts one at an advantage over persons of color. So, just by getting up in the morning, standing up to relieve oneself, dressing, getting in your car, and driving to work gives you unearned and unjust advantages not available to females. This is the nominal sense of "entitlement." Used more prejudicially, it can also connote an attitude of arrogance or presumption of entitlement.

But, key to the feminist line of political correctness, men are beneficiaries of such unearned privilege just because they are men.

Funny you would mention that; I have always had a hunch that their real argument is with God, and none other.

Feminist egalitarianism

I have read a response by Wayne Gudem to the silly accusation that we are teaching male entitlement when we reject radical feminist egalitarianism.
I am glad men like you and Wayne Grudem devote the time and energy to answer the femanists. I am not patient enough to bother with them.
