I just found out recently through a Y-chromosome test that i do descend from Vikings!

My grandfather was Norwegian, so I guess that makes me a viking. My great uncle looked like a viking. He was well over six feet tall, big build, blue-eyed with blond hair and flaming red beard.

I've got the flaming red beard, but no actual proof of any Viking heritage. My son loved to read and study about Leif Erikson when he was small. He even formed the Leif Club, of which only he and his little sister were members.

But since I can't prove Viking descent I suppose I settle for my confirmed Huguenot ancestry.

My high school had a Viking mascot, I have Scandinavian ancestory, and my nickname many moons ago was "Vikro" (details not forthcoming), so I'll raise a glass to Leif Erikson Day!
