Why did the PCUSA adopt so many confessions? The PCA OPC EPC adheres only to the Westminster Confession. The Book of confesiion include: Confession of 1967, the Westminster Confession and Shorter Catechism, the Heidelberg Catechism, the Second Helvetic and Scots Confessions and the Barmen Declaration.

Why the Scots Confession, why the Barmen Declaration, it is not even a confession.

Why not just Westminster Confession?

The PCUSA treats the confessions more as interesting examples of their ecclesiastical heritage rather than confessions per se. They have no binding authority and generally aren't even paid lip service. Multiplying confessions was part of an effort to marginalize those they actually historically confessed.

One of my friend who attend a PC(USA) congregation told me that they do not use the Westminster Confession at all, instead the Barmen Declaration is widely used "because it is too important to ignore" WCF is covered with dust in the library

I actually picked up one of those books at a restore. Was .50 cents.
