Speed reading / comprehension

[sotzo]

I just saw Tom Bombadil's post on what he has read over the last 3 months. Impressive!

I think I could benefit from a speed reading course. I'm not trying to compete or make an idol out of reading...but, I do struggle with getting through large amounts of reading over time and am looking for suggestions.

Are there legit speed reading courses that have a proven track record? Do they allow you to retain what has been read as well as improve comprehension? Again, this question is in the spirit of living out what is learned and not in the spirit of trying to impress others or pack my head full of data.

I'm not ignoring your post Joel, it's just that I'm still reading it. I read a couple lines and couldn't remember what I read. When I get to the end I'll get back to you... maybe in a few days.

That really is something Bawb would say.

Something tells me the speed reading course you are going to recommend was developed by
