Unhelpful Instructions

My wife bought me a new weight bench for my birthday. I attempted to put it together. It took forever. Attached is the diagram. Exploded is an understatement.

Luckily the next three pages were a bit more helpful.

Instruction manuals are supposed to make sense, not confuse every reader it can.

Some how what jumps to mind is the opposite of assembly. It makes me think the bench was assembled and that someone caught an image right as it was blown up!

I'll admit to being contrary and weird, but I really appreciate such detailed drawings. . . .

For some reason I'd rather look at that than read instructions written by someone who hasn't figured out English. I remember one set of instructions that advised the assembler of a propane heater that he should "always keep close when burning."
