what is the whole supra/infra debate about?

I have never really understood the whole debate over supralapsarian and infralapsarian. I always figured that from eternity gave all the decrees equality at least in refrence to time, but the debate as i understand it consits in which decrees came before eachother? do I have this right or am i wrong?

You are right if you understand this one thing, that we are talking about logical order and not chronilogical order. There is only one decree of God but as we break that down into the logical administration of events we like to picture a logical order to these events.

So we aren't saying 'which thing happened first in time?' but rather 'what had to be in place in order for the next thing to happen?'

So, if I understand you right, this is just finite humans trying to logically understand the decree based on revealed word? This is similar to the idea of analogy in anthropomorphic statements made by God in scripture? He condesends to our finite level and uses ideas and images that we understand to reveal things about himself. Thank you if I interpreted you right than that clears up a lot!
