Yes, there is this big buildup to John Calvin's 500th birthday on July 10th. But is that correct?

By the 16th century the Julian calendar was wrong by 10 days. This was fixed by the adoption of the Gregorian calendar about 2 decades after Calvin's death. The date for the vernal equinox was restored to March 21 by skipping ten days. The last day of the Julian calendar in Europe was October 4, 1582. The next day, the first day of the Gregorian calendar was October 15, 1582.

So was Calvin born on June 30 by the Julian calendar, which adjusts to July 10 Gregorian. Or was he born on July 10 by the Julian calendar, which would be July 20 today?
