Lost motivation

Due to an issue in the church. Later rectified
But I have to say but due to the issue in the church I no longer feel motivated to help serve.

I said that something the person said during the service was not right. The pastor didn't see it at first. But later did. An apologized

But now I lost all motivation, to serve as I did.

What's wrong? Can anyone help

If you don’t mind, could you explain more specifically what was said and why it affected you this way? And since the pastor apologized, what do you think is now causing your loss of motivation to serve?

Hi Brother,

I can only give some general thoughts as I don't know the specifics. From what you've shared, it seems possible that you could be somewhat disillusioned. Something to ask yourself is whether your expectations for your pastor are too high, expecting him to never be mistaken, thereby putting him on a sort of pedestal.

I don't know whether this is the case, it's just something I could see being a problem from personal experience. I've had moments of being severely disappointed to find out an error or personal failing of men I looked up to. In some of those moments, I found I had put those men on a pedestal, where they don't belong.

J. C. Ryle stated well when he said: "The best of men are only men at their very best. Patriarchs, prophets, and apostles, - martyrs, fathers, reformers, puritans, - all are sinners, who need a Savior: holy, useful, honorable in their place - but sinners after all." (From his Expository Thoughts on the Gospels, Matthew 17:1-13).

Along with that all, here are some other practical considerations:

Have you prayed about this?
Have you brought it up to your pastor?
Were you already being worn out, finding less ability to serve in the capacity you have been, before this situation?

What exactly did you do to serve? I ask because it is a common misconception one must "serve" in a local congregation. Most people are part of a church to be served....Call me selfish, but I and my wife worked very hard 6 days, and we simply "served" many those 6 days, just not under the name of our church.
