OK. This may reflect a touch of OCD on my part but here goes: I do not like it when my Bible ribbons fray! Not one bit. In the past I CAREFULLY used a lighter to run over the tips to bind the threads. No more! There is a product called Fray Check, (got mine the Amazon way) but you dab a little on the tips and more exposed parts of the ribbons, WAIT ABOUT 15 minutes! Needs to dry! It will not discolor or harm the ribbons. It will keep them from fraying, this is really good when you have a Bible with 2 ribbons so the ribbon in the Bible that might rub against your shirt will not get frazzled.:cool: File this under things that are cool!:)

I think it is cool, but personally, I'd rather have a nice Bible with NO ribbon markers, period. I never use them, and always tuck them neatly in the pages.

:lol: I still prefer the acetylene torch for clean ends. Of course, it takes practice to keep the pages from carbonizing. ;)
 
Rather than going onto Amazon.com for your Fray Check, you can simply get it at your local JoAnn Fabrics or other fabric or crafts store. I've used the stuff for years in my sewing - it's great!

Thanks for the hint about using it for Bible ribbons - dh's ribbons are fraying something fierce!

No prob! I knew that people who sew use this often, I just stumbled across using it to prevent Bible ribbons from fraying recently. :)
 
Thanks for the tip Max. I actually normally keep my Bible in a cover and that seems to protect the ribbons. I like my New Geneva Study Bible I got years ago with two ribbons. I usually have two places to mark:
1. A place to mark where I am in my through the Bible reading.
2. A place to mark where my devotional reading is.

I really don't pay much attention to the ribbon...but I did duct tape the cover back on my Bible when it started to fall apart...

Thanks for the kind comment, my friends and family often wonder how I deal with it. I just look at them and say, "well, I'm a little strange, too."
