American Idol Testimony

Who got to see the most recent American Idol?

There was a large black woman who had been insulted by Simon Cowell behind her back where he commented that she was very fat after she left the room.

Yesterday's show she had apparently seen the tape of where he had insulted her. She was walking in to find if she had been selected among the 12 women going through.

Here is the "transcript" from memory:

"Simon, I guess you could find a big enough stage for me to sing on but it would have been nice to find a bigger chair.
There were many friends who told me what I ought to say to you but I decided that I would tell you that even though you have not asked for forgiveness I forgive you. I figured that if Jesus Christ could die on a Cross to forgive my sins then I could extend a little Grace to you."

Randy Jackson: "Amen!"

Simon Cowell was humbled.

She was incredibly gracious and classy. I thought she was a tremendous testimony to our Savior. I was moved and I'm not one given to sappy emotionalism.

I don't watch that show, or much prime time...

I would rather watch something educational or historical in nature...

Yeah, that witness for Christ really caught me off guard too. I thought it was very powerful, in spite of its short length. I almost shed a few tears, but hey, I gotta roommate, I gotta be strong!

There was much more "Christian witness" in that short phrase she uttered than in a whole program of many "Christian" movies or shows.

Exactly! The show just had so many self-serving fools on it that are even too foolish to know when they should at least display the pretense that they aren't completely self-serving in front of millions. She was a breath of fresh air.

I have to tell you, though, I was also deeply moved by that trio that had that 18 year old kid from Oklahoma in it. After witnessing all the selfish jerks, I was really touched by how the black man and the big cowboy worked so hard, without complaint, with that young man with very little natural talent. He was trying so hard and they were very patient with him. It's safe to say that he probably ruined their chances to move on but they stood by him. The black man got teared up recounting how hard the young man tried and said: "This is America" referring to how, even though from different backgrounds, they worked together.

The young man broke down crying "I let you guys down." That big cowboy dude hugged him and said "You didn't let us down. You did good."

It was so mature. So paternal for a man that couldn't have been more than 24. It was just good to see two men being really kind, being good teammates and loyal friends to a man they had just met in contrast to all the other displays of depravity on that show.

Yeah, thank God America got to see a taste of true brotherly cowboy love and not the warped, skew of a lie they are pushing with Brokeback.

I've always thought that much of what goes on on American Idol is scripted, but I'm guessing that that testimony wasn't.
