In one hour I will begin a new bible study here in my apartment!

I live in a senior apartment complex and it is quite difficult to get conversations going on the bible and /or christianity. Seems so many are set, rigid, dont want to listen or discuss and seem to have arrived at the destination of their belief! I did find a supportive lady here who is helping to invite others to come. I plan to do my very best to stimulate interest in the Word, its inerrancy, its sufficiency and accuracy and to urge them to read, study, learn and grow through the rest of their days!

Please pray for a decent turnout, no hecklers and that our Lord will honored by all that is said here, both by me and by them!

This is what I love doing best and I so hope and pray that it will be positive thing that will continue on a regular basis!

Thanks for praying!!

Praying...what will you be studying in particular?

Today will be an introduction with the importance and validity of scripture for all of life and Godliness and I will give many supportive scriptures, reading much from the Word to show that God expects us to know and to study and grow from the Word He left for us! Focus on much of Psalm 19 and 119 as well.
I also will be evaluating where some of them are spiritually as best I can surmise and try to determine what they will most benefit from!
All suggestions are welcome by PBers!
I also want to go into sovereignty and possibly read from Ephesians 1 and 2 in coming sessions; that is, if there will be coming sessions!

Sounds great! One thing that has worked well for my husband and I when we do a study with unwed mothers of mixed religious backgrounds (very different demographic, I know) is to look at God's guidance in our lives. Many of our girls have made unwise choices and benefit from looking at verses that talk about God's control over things great and small and how that can apply to our decisions and fears of the future.
While the makeup of the two groups is very different, a fear of the unknown and a resulting anxiety cut all across all age groups.

Christiana,

"do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving" Philippians 4:6
I am not far from you over here in Dayton, TX and am glad to see a PBer so near reaching out to those around you with the Gospel.

Bless you and report back as to how things progress!

Thanks so much everyone that prayed for the bible study! It was so great I could hardly contain my joy! There were only six, including myself, present but each one said they really enjoyed it and would be bringing others with them next week! What amazing grace of our Lord to allow me to do this here! I feel now it will be growing and perhaps we will even move to the club room if our numbers increase. This apartment is very small so we would be packed if there were 10 present!
I read the verse in Amos where God declared He would be sending a famine of the Word and what our responsibility is regarding such a statement and how we need to be immersed in the Word with much memorized. I talked about the validity of scripture and how our holy God brought no less than 30 writers to compose scripture over 1500 years and most never knew the others and yet the bible is perfect! If one word was not perfect it would render it all to be error as our God is perfect and all of His words to us are perfect!
I'm not sure just what page they are on in doctrine but did feel them all to be believers and very interested.
Anna, I did address scriptures with them that would show their own responsibility to be accountable for what they learn and gain from their reading. One lady did say she reads her bible daily. Considering the size of this complex the total present was small but I know if they return with others our Lord can multiply both the numbers and the blessings! I had a wonderful time sharing the Word and am so thankful it was possible! God is so very good!
