Hello! Hope all are well and healthy. Wondering if anyone could recommend a book on the major heresies through the centuries? I do not want something super technical but just something that will give me a brief understand of the historical and theological backgrounds to the major heresies. I have seen Know the Heretics by Justin Holcomb which looks good but have not picked up yet. Would you recommend that or something else? Thanks!

"Heresies: Heresy and Orthodoxy in the History of the Church" by Harold O. J. Brown. I have not read through all but I believe it works like a history book, outlining every major heresy in chronological orders.

My copy is a very old one now (probably in the 80s or 90s).

It can be searched and found on Amazon.

Peace

OJ Brown is a good start. Our understanding of Nestorianism is far more nuanced today than when he wrote.

Holcombe's book looks good. I do think it is kind of odd that he jumped from Nestorius to Socinius.
