Go the the technical! Daniel, how did Douglas Moo get his name?? Inquiring minds want to know.

I am so glad someone finally asked this question.
Now, with a surname like Moo, what ethnic background would you think Douglas came from? Chinese, perhaps? Wrong! He is actually from a Norwegian background. So how did he end up with the name Moo? Basically, when one of his distant relatives was emigrating to America he was asked for his name at the immigration office, but the American clerical officer could not make out what his surname was. So, in order to get around the difficulty, the immigration officer asked him for the name of the town he came from, and so Douglas' relative said "Moo". Hence, the immigration officer gave him "Moo" as the families surname.
