My husband and I plan to go through this book together. Has anyone read this and thought it was a useful thing to add to your home library? Also bonus points if you have supplemental material, manuals, worksheets that you think would go well with this!

Yes.

I agree a useful addition to home library especially for laity.

It's superb.

It gets extra bonus points for including the original WCF text as a variant (it's using the American version but accounts for the changed language) and for including the Augsburg Confession. I also appreciate the brief historical notes on each document.

For someone in the Reformed world, you get the Creeds + Chalcedon, the two most essential doctrinal statements of the other two main branches of the Reformation in the 39 Articles and Augsburg Confession, and you get the full slate of Westminster/3 Forms of Unity, and the London Baptist Confession. On top of that, it's well bound, has excellent typesetting and formatting, and isn't the size and weight of a landscape paver.

The 1689 is also known as the 2LCF (and also 2LBC). This historic Baptist document is included. It’s just not visible as “1689” in the table of contents. Just clarifying for those who are interested.

I haven't finished this--have left my bookmark near the end of the Augsburg Confession for now. But I find the pithy introductions to each document very insightful and helpful and worth having this volume alone. It also is very nice to have all of these in one place and explore or refresh on them--sometimes finding certain parts particularly germane to issues of each statement's time period (encouraging delving into more historical theology).

Having all this in one place is alone worth it, especially to compare traditions.

Also, I would consider this extremely valuable if i lived in a less-than-friendly country with regards to Christianity, or if the internet takes down everything Christian, or just breaks. I think this is the second book I would grab after the Bible (or 10 Bibles)

It’s also extremely we’ll layed out in a very readable way and also an excellent quality book. I’m reading through this for the second time as part of my morning devotions and just plan to keep going through it day by day for the foreseeable future.
