KJV: 8And shall also carry captives into Egypt their gods, with their princes, and with their precious vessels of silver and of gold; and he shall continue more years than the king of the north. 9So the king of the south shall come into his kingdom, and shall return into his own land.

ESV: 8He shall also carry off to Egypt their gods with their metal images and their precious vessels of silver and gold, and for some years he shall refrain from attacking the king of the north. 9Then the latter shall come into the realm of the king of the south but shall return to his own land.

Both these translations differ about whether the king of the north entered the king of the south's kingdom OR vice versa. Which one is correct? Why were they translated differently?

Its not always easy to determine which noun in the sentence may be the subject, and which the object; or which antecedent is the active agent in the current sentence.

Also, idioms may mean quite different things, thus v8 KJV has "continue" and ESV has "refrain"; the verb literally is "to stand".
