I had to conduct a funeral this morning for a dear lady of 85 years. That was both sad and glad (she was a firm believer), and I had the opportunity to preach the word of God from John 14.
Then my mom calls me about an hour ago. Two of her neighbors (husband and wife) about her age (early 70s) were both killed in an automobile accident today. I have known both of these people my entire life. In a sense there is some mercy in it, as he had Parkinson's Disease and he is spared from the latter stages of that.
But this is going to be trying on my mom and her little country church. This was essentially the patriarch and matriarch of about half of the church members. Everyone will be affected by this.
