I recently came across the theory of “divinely inspired editing” which teaches that God inspired editors in the same way as original authors to make changes to/clarify previous versions of Scripture up until the Old Testament canon came to a close. This view was presented as within the realm of orthodoxy concerning the doctrine of inspiration. As I heard this, it raised many red flags for its implications on the inerrancy of Scripture and the perspicuity of Scripture. Any thoughts on the validity of this “inspired editing” theory?
