Facebook Spam?

I just received this message via Facebook, from a former PBer:

I'M SORRY TO HAVE TO SEND THIS! Reply Facebook is recently becoming very overpopulated,there have been many members complaining that Facebook is becoming very slow. Records show that the reason is that there are too many non-active Facebook members and, on the other side, too many new Facebook members.

We will be sending this message around to see if members are active or not. If you are active please send to at least 15 other users using Copy Paste to show that you are still active. Those who do not send this message within 2 weeks will be deleted without hesitation to create more space.

Send this message to all your friends and to show me that your still active and you will not be deleted.

Of course, this reads almost exactly like the various email scams that go around quite frequently. I am wondering 1) if anyone else has gotten this and 2) if there is anyway to test the veracity of this.

I've never received anything which was actually official in the mail before which has asked me to "mail this on to 15 of your friends."

I'm pretty sure a website the size of facebook has much easier means of knowing which accounts are active.

It looks familiar, like I've gotten it before, but I almost never send forwards and I still have a facebook. Why would it ask you to only send it to 15 friends??

I received this several months ago. I did nothing about it and am still on Facebook. It's a scam!

But be sure to thank me within the next 10 minutes, otherwise something really, really bad will happen to you while you sleep. (Yes, that's right, you will lose consciousness until I let you regain consciousness!) Muaha...hahaha!

One thing that sort of gives it away....it claims to be from the owner, they can turn on the "main" and know who is active! Like here on PB, Rich or anyone with the right clearance would KNOW if you were "active" or not. They would not NEED a "chain-letter" to 15 other people.
