Firefox will not open

Earlier today it was fine but now Firefox will not open period. I shut down the computer, ended the process on task manager (it says it is running on there but there is nothing showing up). Anyone know what to do? I tried to safe mode after i ended the process but it immediately hosed up when the window opened and did not unhose. I tries restarting firefox as an alternative to opening safe mode and that did nothing.

You could try deleting the profile and starting again, but this would depend on if you have things backed up. Do you use the Sync feature? If you want to try and you're on Windows, click Winkey+ R (run) then type %appdata% and press enter. Then delete the Mozilla > Firefox folder.

Firefox works for me, but it has reset all of my custom settings. Perhaps they are having problems?

Reset your screen resolution to something very low. Perhaps FF is open but "off screen". Once you can see it set it to full screen width then close. Reset your resolution and then see if it shows up correctly.

You could try downloading a fresh copy and install it over the top of the old one. That way you won't lose anything and the installation might fix whatever was wrong. Make sure all instances of FF running (firefox.exe) are ended in Task Manager. Worth a shot.
