Fountain Pens

I personally use a Pilot Custom 74 with Noodler's Black as my everyday pen. When travelling I use the same with a Pilot Metropolitan.

I use them every day. My collection is fairly extensive as a long time user. I need to thin the herd. My favorites are Conid Bulkfillers and Sailor 1911's/KOP's that have been stubbed or ground to cursive italics. I tend to like wet pens (8/10), and Eur med/Japanese M's. I like Pilot and Montblanc Inks. I use Noodler's Baystate Blue for a permanent ink for envelopes and such. I like fountain pens. They are like antique folk art that still perform their designated task with excellence.

David I have a convertor but to be honest I usually just use cartridges. I actually bought it in extra fine, loved it, but it kept skipping an stopping and actually didn't write that well on my Leuchtturm journals. The fine works great. I confess I have never used the convertor with the fine - cartridges are good and so easy. I'm too scared to go the eye-dropper route!

I really like the compact design that I can stick in my pocket. I'd like to upgrade to one of the metal cased ones (Brass or aluminium).

I have a Lamy but I never could get consistency out of it. Should try another. I do like the G2 Pilots.

I'm assuming you mean the Lamy Safari? I have one, used it for about a week and it just sits in my desk drawer. I would suggest trying a Pilot Metropolitan.

I did a trial run with this. I thought it wrote well and I wish I could say I really like fountain pens, but I still really like my Pilot Precise v5 RTs.

For those dipping their pen for the first time, I would strongly suggest getting a bottle of Aurora Black or Blue, and a TWSBI Eco piston filler. The Pilot Metro is a good "gateway pen" as well.
