General Baptists?

Does anyone have any knowledge or understanding of the "General Baptists"? Their lineage, notable leaders of their movement, their origins, etc.?

I originally thought they were similar to the Particular Baptists in theology, but were more like 4-point Calvinists (believing in an unlimited/universal atonement instead of limited atonement/particular redemption as the Particular Baptists did). But having started to read "History of the English Calvinistic Baptists 1791-1892" by Robert Oliver, he said the General Baptists were basically Arminian. So now I'm interested to learn a bit more about their differences.

I thought General Baptist was a term to distinguish from Particular Baptists, where Particulars were 5 pointers and General was a broad category of those who were not.
