Well we know a mini ice age occurred around Elizabethan times and that we are just now coming out of it.
Temperature studies are a questionable practice but even at face value the earth was cooler during the height of the Industrial Revolution and the dreaded carbon emission output than it was post industrial America, it seems to be stabilizing.
In the sixties and seventies global cooling was the alarmist craze and it was put before congress to take action and ignored.
Imagine had steps been taken to warm the planet as the alarmists of the era desired!?
The earth is warming marginally, not significantly and all reasonable data concludes it is in all probability a natural phenomenon and not the result of we myopic humans.
Politically speaking the so called savior of humanity we call the Kyoto Protocol is very shady as it is meant to allow worldwide bureaucracy legislate over sovereign nations with the unspoken cause of an even more entwined economic structure.
That is the true reason many are livid at the USA for not ratifying it, economics and little else and it would hurt the American economy.
It is a huge sham as only two signers of it have fulfilled their treaty obligations to date, Canada and Poland and we know how important those two lands are to the global economy.
The ethanol debate is a lost cause as well, an extraordinary waste of resources and money but it makes the self-righteous crusaders, the ones who promote the secular apocalypse we call global warming, feel virtuous by their own merits.
Ethanol requires more energy to make than can be extracted from creating it and carbon is burned to make it!
But Senators Kerry and Biden just trumpeted a few months ago how they have pushed through congress a bill requiring 30 percent of the nation's gasoline to be mixed with ethanol by the end of the decade, it already is federally mandated to be mixed in our fuel supply and is an unheralded reason (although not the lone culprit) that gas prices have spiked into epic proportions these last several years.
In conclusion global warming and the rapture have alot in common, they are apocalyptic misinterpretations of the truth with very political agendas keeping the notions alive.
