Below is a short video I filmed for our church website giving a brief overview of the gospel. I would welcome any comments, critiques, or suggestions either technical or about the content. We will probably end up reshooting it as the circumstances weren't great (there was a thunderstorm going on) The website is pinehavenpres.org, which is also being developed presently.

The HD video will not download fast enough for me to view it via the (admittedly slow) internet connection available to me here. I love HiDef and nice quality video. I used to shoot video professionally. But depending on the typical download speeds available in Jackson, it might be worth thinking about taking the definition down a notch so that a larger number of viewers can play the video without interruption. You don't want to be a church that's only for people who can afford fast connections.

oh shucks. I assumed vimeo would handle that and serve a sd picture if the connection was low. I'll be sure to do that. What resolution would you recommend? I imagine that the bitrate is more to blame than the resolution. I uploaded it at 1080p, but vimeo notified me that they would knock it down to 720.

I'm afraid I don't have the expertise to tell you how to fix it. I only know that I routinely have trouble with the sharper-looking videos on vimeo. But maybe I'm an extreme case, out here where our infrastructure is limited and download speeds are slow. Still, you might want to get a good sampling of people out there to try it, at peak usage times of day, and ask them if they had any trouble.
