For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator

This kinda applies to the New Covenant not so much the Old. Who died to bring the Old Covenant into effect?

Verse 17

For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

Look down to v.19. For a typical economy, the death of a typical victim would suffice.

I just dont see the link between cvenant and death of the one who makes it? The idea of a "will" - "after my death I leave to my son ..." OK but a covenant?

Am I missing something in the concept of the covenant? The fact that a typical death will suffice ???????

A typical death will suffice for a typical covenant no?

Interesting the word diatheke can mean 'will'

The covenant is often set out as a testamentary disposition.
Perhaps you could rephrase your question - it's not quite clear to me what you are asking.
