My wife and I are heading off for two weeks holiday in the Canary Islands. Our youngest son is coming with us leaving our 19 year old middle son alone in the house. (Those who are parents of teenagers will know what to pray for)

My wife thinks I am upstairs packing so if this thread stops abruptly in mid-sentance you will know I have been caught out.

Holidays are a time for rest and relaxation as well as spiritual refreshment. What I would be interested to know is what holiday reading you take with you and why. In the couple of weeks leading up to flying out I have all these possibilities in my mind and finally settle on one or two.

I tend to pick more devotional books for holidays. This year I am bringing Thomas Watson's Godly Mans Picture. I have read it before but for lying about the beach Watson can be read in small chunks as he is so rich you have time to read and think. I also picked up James W Sire's Thirsting for God which concerns praying through the Psalms.

Anyway, I better get packing
