I need a six-month hiatus....

I need a six-month hiatus... I want to thank everyone for their prayers, words of inspiration and dialogue since late December 2004 when I first joined the Puritanboard. Not that anything has happened recently, but for anyone that I've ever wronged I apologize.

For some-- perhaps seeing me off-line for a half-a-year will be a breath of fresh air and a good riddance sentiment comes to their minds. For others, well I won't be that presumptious that I have a fan club... I think the Puritanboard needs to be consumed in a season, and it doesn't hurt to shelf it from time-to-time... not because there is something wrong with the Puritanboard but that I might redeem the time. Plus, I'm running out of edifying things to talk about-- and rambling too much. My funny bone is worn out as well.

Now, I could use a little time off. I will check my U2Us from time to time, and perhaps be a casual observer. Because I am so ill-disciplined and would basically be a liar and be back in a week unless I'm given a kick-out-the-door, I politely ask that one of the moderators suspend my posting privileges for a little while, until I return later and perhaps I will be back this fall around September or October.

Back to hanging my hat on the hiatus pole
Well, as assuredly as a certain moderator tempted me to post something on the board two months after my hiatus began, thus effectively breaking my so-called six month hiatus, I think I shall renew it, and go back to browsing the board far less, and contributing not at all for a few months, and maybe check a U2U every week or so.

Looking at 99% of the things I have contributed as of late, I think they make no difference whatsoever in the greater scheme of things. Much of it is rooted in boredom, as I integrate jumping on and off the PB into my daily routine of monotony.

That the PB has potential for edification is granted, but I am not making very prudent use of it, so I will toss my hat back on the hiatus pole this summer.

I'm moving to greener pastures soon hopefully where there are decent-paying full-time jobs. Frankly I hope to live an unplugged existence as far an Internet is concerned most likely, only checking my e-mails at work, and surfing on lunchbreak perhaps. At home, I can manage time just fine on PC without Internet, and might even do more journalism, magazine articles, writing and theology studies in my free-time.

Additionally, I'm going to turn more attentively back to weight training and cardio workout as I did a few years back, and keep endorphines going. More workouts help me concentrate and makes me easy-going, and not so tense and anxious. I'm getting a Boxflex. I'm tired of the gyms. Plus, the cost of gas makes buying the fitness equipment cheaper.

Brother, I soon may (and no doubt should) follow you into hiatus. I need to focus on my career at this point, and I've become convinced that my spiritual walk has suffered from so much time spent online.

Hey Ryan,

Seems like I just got here and already you're taking off for a season. I understand - I had to ask my Session for a hiatus from being precentor when I was in my former congregatiion because I feared I was concentrating on leading others more than worship, and I needed to worship. That helped. In the interim we had to relocate, and now I'm a precentor again.

Honestly, I don't think you were rambling and I really did benefit from your posts. I will miss you. Looking forward to your return. Remember what i said - if you're ever in the Charlotte area.
