I have been on here for a couple of months and I still can't figure out how to get a picture under my name. Help! I read some of the threads on this still not a clue.

Sean:

In order to retrieve a picture you first have to have a picture online already--this can be done by uploading the picture you want to use, in the proper size, to your personal webspace. Most people get free webspace from their Internet Service Provider. If you don't have webspace there are places that offer free webspace.

After your picture is online:

If you look at the top portion of the screen, you'll see a place to "quick edit" your avatar and signature. Where it says avatar you type in the url including file name of your picture. For example: www.mywebspace.com/mypicture.jpg

Hope this helps.

You mean that's not you? And I was just about to compliment you on your bodacious beard! So, wait...all these pictures next to people's names aren't really them?

www.headcovers.com

Of course, it's for women who cover, but I'm sure you could make it work. Just tell them you have a really big head. I've seen a couple of covers on that site that look quite similar to the picture.

Of course, it would look better if you grew the beard too. Just think about the reactions you would get.

Course, jeans and t-shirt would look funny with that ensemble!!!

But to each his own...

A little while back I used an avatar of John Calvin from another site and I got a nasty little email asking me to please remove it. He says his server couldn't handle the traffic. Maybe nasty is too stronge of a word but it was certainly to the point.

I don't get it. Our fellas were rude? Why wouldn't Calvin work but Jonathan Edwards will?

:puzzled: Mary

No, the John Calvin photo was from another reformed site,the rude one. I got this one from JohnathanEdwards.com, they are cool about it so far.

Okay, if I remember correctly, it's been so long;

Whenever the picture is displayed it is downloaded from the other person's site, so you can see it. This causes their site to load much slower, because it's 'energy' is being used to download individual pictures. This is actually seems inconsiderate, if you think of it. When using a picture, even when using it on your computer it's best to save it to your computer.

I didn't know that at the time. I have since changed my ways. I always send an email to the site to ask permission to use their image. If I don't get a response back I assume that it's OK. I hope that's the right thing to do.
