I get this I really do. I don't really get Americans who care about things of the Royal Family and the monarchy, It comes down to being another celebrity paparazzi fest to many. I hope my american brothers and sister will understand that PB is made up of members who are from nations in which Her Majesty the Queen, Rules as Head of State. And is a active and integral part of our national identity and government. In other words for those people from commonwealth country, we are not just hoping on the band wagon of paparazzi mayhem, we are celebrating the birth of our future leader is our cause of celebration and patriotism. Many will not get this, I understand there is aspect of American culture i do not get, such as the Pledge of Allegiance ect. So I hope my American brothers will realize just as the exaggeration of a new president or the 4th of July is a time of national patriotism, so too for many people around the world the birth of our future king is a source of patriotism, and that he might come to know the true King of Kings.

Haha this is funny because I heard about it from a facebook status about how the BBC had waited till Eastenders was finished to announce the birth.

Once upon a time America was opposed to tyranny and therefore rebelled against the king. However, we have come to the place where we have embraced leaders and laws far more intrusive, obstructive, and dare I say, tyrannical than anything imposed by the Crown.

In this day where much of the American populace pays rapt attention to every fornicating starlet who decides to have an out of wedlock "accessory baby," I think applauding a highly visible couple on the birth of their baby within the bounds of marriage, who by all appearances try to be as normal as their circumstances allow, is commendable. As leaders they set an example, and in this case the example of William and Kate is one to be emulated.

As to the monarchy itself - I have to say, in sheer economic terms, the Brits benefit from having a head of state that actually makes them money rather than ours who depletes our coffers more and more each day.
