Puritan Board Doctor
Dr. P, as he was universally known, died on April 28th - just 4 days after his 99th birthday. His best-known book (of 21) is Things to Come, published in 1958. He taught Bible exposition at Dallas Theological Seminary for 59 years (1955 to his death).

I disagree with his dispensationalism, of course but, by all accounts, he was a sweet, humble, learned, godly man. RIP.

Interesting fact - I've actually been inside his residence (he wasn't there at the time).

Dr. Pentecost's father was a Presbyterian deacon in Chester, PA and was also the one who came up with the idea of the AWANA program. His pastor's son, Lance Latham, then developed the program and turned it into a nation-wide ministry.

My current pastor learned under Mr Pentecost at DTS. He was a big fan of him. I'm sure he'll be grieved (but also rejoicing) in his death.

When I was a student at Piedmont Bible College in the early 80's, there were two texts that everyone had to own, know, and love: A KJV Scofield Reference Bible and Things to Come.

Things Which Become Sound Doctrine really helped me when I was struggling with the DoG.

I think Pentecost was one of the last members of the generation of classic Dispensationalists who were sort of obsessed with eschatology.
