More likely that Knox--like Calvin--wasn't addressing the same concerns that Owen was, and so you don't see Knox usually arguing for limited atonement. Moreover, he is probably working with--like Calvin--the Lombardian formula, sufficient for all, efficient for the elect.

I've read the book in question. Torrance never really makes the argument that a) Knox rejected LA, and b) LA is Nestorian. That claim has been floated around a lot, but it is hard to prove
