The last few months I've been learning to play the banjo from videos online. The Appalachian melodies often move the spirit and the lyrics are fun. When I sit on the front step to practice the neighbours will open the windows to listen so I use lyrics from Gadsby's Hymnal to substitute the traditional lyrics.
The following hymn by John Newton works well with Tom Dooley
