It's kind of sad. Was hoping he would iron out the rough edges and move forward.

I think some of his series were very good

I appreciate allot of his series and was hoping he would just own up to his problems and move forward
Resignation was voluntary and a surprise to the elder board

Yeah, it is sad.

Hard to say what was the best way forward.

I wonder if he will emerge again, or if he is done with ministry.

Good riddance.

Hopefully, they'll find a mature Reformed man for that work. But I'm not holding my breath.

Meanwhile, Ernest Angley, 93 (I thought he was dead) has allegedly been instructing his male congregants (at his "church" in Ohio) to get vasectomies and his female congregants to get abortions.

Given that I can appreciate the ministry of the broader church, and given that Mark Driscoll is pretty much the instrument God used to make Seattle NOT the least churched city in America, I cannot say "good riddance."

Given that the church's investigation called for continuing growth while acknowledging that he had not disqualified himself from pastoral ministry, I would be surprised if Mark Driscoll doesn't end up planting or pastoring a new church in the future.

I hope MD gets some Old School mentoring, matures while not in the pulpit, and begins to serve the Lord without his old baggage.

Never was a fan, but I can respect a man who feels it best that he step down, rather than brushing aside concerns and/or shedding some crocodile tears, then going on as if nothing happened. Lot of that going around. And the temptations that come with having a name, reputation, or following have been the downfall of many. I'll pray for him.

I have to agree.

Also, as a rule it's not good to characterize a person by their worst mistakes. I don't know any mistake free pastors Some are broken and move forward...

I sure hope and pray that these Online Discernment Ministries cool their heels on this one and have it in themselves to pray for the man, instead of capitalizing on the endless harping that they did with regards to the crude language and expressions that he used in the past.

The fact that the people gravitated toward a charismatic man and not necessarily the gospel says a lot too. It seems he also pushed many away with his demon hearings....

This is alot of attention to give to one man. The church itself needs reformation; otherwise it is bound to reproduce after its kind.
