CANADIAN STATED SUPPLY DESPERATELY NEEDED
This comes from John R Shearouse in Timberlea, Nova Scotia:
"We (at Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church) were able to secure a good stated supply for the summer, an OPC man from Ontario, but he is leaving at the end of August. We are now looking for a seasoned man who can come in for a longer term - someone who can shepherd the people. They are truly like sheep without a shepherd at this time.
"The closest ruling elder to them on the provisional session is 2.5 hours away,
and our ruling elders are very busy in their own congregations where more
leadership is needed. For example, one congregation providing a provisional
elder has doubled in size over the last six months and much of the increase is
new converts - yet there are only two elders in this congregation.
"We are simply not able to provide the kind of pastoral attention they need, and at this time, we are not even able to find supply for the pulpit on a week by week basis. The number of reformed ministers per square mile in Atlantic Canada must surely be a tiny fraction of what it is in the Carolinas."
