National Train Day

[Claudiu]

Fellow PBer's, May 11 is National Train Day!

For those interested in trains, check out the local events in your area: National Train Day website. Even if you're not interested in trains, it may be a great day out with the family!

[Tim]

I love trains. Sometimes, I think that I would like to move to Europe, just so I can ride the marvelous train systems they have there. For now, I must be content to watch the Amtrak go by towards Chicago, just after 7:30 pm!

Thanks for the heads up. I may indeed check out what is available on that day in Ann Arbor, MI.

Here's the caption. "4004 smokes up the sky near Speer, WY, heading a manifest of empty fruit reefers back to western producers. Photo by Stan Kistler, Winter 1958." From the page Union Pacific 4-8-8-4 "Big Boy" Locomotives That particular locomotive is now located in Holliday Park, Cheyenne, WY along U.S. 30.
