Nice Bible - Cheap

So check out this new release of the thinline. On crossway they have it retailing for $80, but amazon surprisingly has it in stock for $30. Supposedly crossway says it's cowhide leather. I think I may get it - it was just released in September I believe. Any thoughts?

I just ordered one. We'll see. I have been wanting a travel bible to take on the road with me. I have iPad bibles but I just like real books better. Thanks.

Ok, I received the Bible. It is a good size and real leather. Kind of like rawhide. Pretty stiff. It is a Red Letter Bible which I was a little bit disappointed in that was never disclosed on the Amazon page that I saw

Oddly enough, every nice thinline I've seen is always red letter. I'm trying to learn to appreciate it. How are the margins away from the gutter? Pretty spacey? Mine is arriving tomorrow.

This is a typical page. I like it for what I want to use it for..a put in the suitcase bible. I'm on the road weekly, and need something less bulky than my reference bibles. Overall, I like it.

Funny you say that. I woke up this morning to hear a bird saying it was "cheep", "cheep", "cheep". Sorry, have a bad sense of humour

My experience when looking at Bible versions, if they are "cheep", you should look carefully at the quality before you buy. To achieve low cost, sometimes it means a compromise on quality. Not always, but it is wise to check.

I just got mine in. Wow, it is rugged. I'm not sure if I like that toughness or not. If definitely feels like it will last a lifetime, it just won't keep itself open. It feels like good and strong leather, but that of a kind you would find on a horse saddle.
