With his skill he is surely dementing the fanatical spirits today, as I have said. He rules in them and makes them so inflexible and hard that no anvil could be as hard. They do not permit themselves to be instructed; they do not listen to reason; they do not admit Scripture. All they are concerned about is how, by inventing and making up glosses out of their own heads, to elude the passages of Scripture quoted against them, and how to defend their own dreams that have been smuggled into Scripture. This is an obvious sign that they have been captured by the bewitchment of the devil.
