Robertson Predicts 'Mass Killing'

In what has become an annual tradition of prognostications, religious broadcaster Pat Robertson predicted Tuesday that a terrorist attack on the United States would result in "mass killing" late in 2007.

"I'm not necessarily saying it's going to be nuclear," he said during his news-and-talk television show "The 700 Club" on the Christian Broadcasting Network. "The Lord didn't say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that."

Robertson said God told him during a recent prayer retreat that major cities and possibly millions of people will be affected by the attack, which should take place sometime after September.

I used to live in VA Beach VA. Practically in his back yard. Yep, this guy gets wierder and wierder as he gets older. CBN should stick to what they do well and forget the prophecy stuff. (not they do a great deal of anything else well either but....)

I went to ODU a number of years ago, and had the opportunity to visit the CBN studio. I was impressed by their equipment (being in electrical engineering), but that's about it.

Not too long after that visit, I felt compelled to write them after watching one of their shows. Pat Robertson wasn't there, so Ben was doing the show in his place. They had a charismatic priest on there, and they were having a wonderful time together talking about the things of the 'spirit of god'. Then the priest started talking about being born again - from the catholic perspective. I was expecting Ben to say something about the biblical meaning of being born again, but he said nothing. I was dumbfound, so I wrote him about it. I kind of expected to hear something along the lines of him not wanting to publicly embarrass the priest, but instead he wrote back and basically said "Who are we to judge?"...haven't watched the show since.

As for Pat Robertson's recent comments, like others I'm not surprised. What does surprise (dismay) me is that he still has enough of a following to keep the TV show going.
