Prayer request

Hi guys, I'm leaving on June 30th for a five week mission trip to the island of Java, Indonesia. Most Western governments (Australia, Britain, United States, etc.) have warned their citizens not to travel there because of increased risk of terrorist attacks. We will be in Jakarta on July 4th and 5th which will be during the general presidential elections. These sometimes lead to massive riots. Churches are also under increased attack in Jakarta with 4 being burned in a one week period. Any prayer for the trip would be much appreciated.

Praise the Lord, however, for raising the funds for me to go! It's truly an awesome thing to see, in spite of increased persecution, the Gospel spreading faster in Indonesia than in any other Muslim nation.

That's great news. I trust the Lord will keep you safe and give you a profitable ministry.

Can you tell us more about it? Who are you going with? Are there missionaries there you are going to link up with? A good book about some missionaries in Indonesia is "Lords of the Earth" by Don Richardson.

Wow, I really appreciate the title of that book. It sounds very interesting.

I'm going with a missionary named Doug Miller. He's worked there for around 20 years. Much of it was in Irian Jaya and on the outer islands. It's just him, myself, and another student in the initial group. However, we'll be linking up with a national pastor/evangelist who has started quite a few churches with unreached people groups.
