Reformation Day 2008

On Friday, October 31, 2008 at 8:00 PM, you are cordially invited to join us for a celebration of God's church-reforming work in ages past. This year's featured speaker is Rev. Alan Strange, associate professor of church history at Mid-America Reformed Seminary. He will be speaking on, "Developing a Christian Worldview: Cornelius VanTil and the Reformation of Apologetics." The evening will also feature a time of Psalm and hymn-singing. A collection will be taken to defray the costs.

We're also pleased to have Prof. Strange speaking for past, present and future officebearers on Saturday morning at 10:00 AM on "The Genius of the Reformation: How a Just God Justifies the Ungodly." In this presentation, Prof. Strange will introduce the pastoral significance of the Reformed doctrine of justification.

Both events are scheduled to take place at the Langley Canadian Reformed Church, 21804-52 Ave., Langley BC.

For those in the Louisville, KY area, we will also be having a Reformation Day worship service. We have already invited the local Scottish society to be guests, and hopefully we might even have a piper or two. :knox:

And, since this will only be a few days before the election, I'm thinking of preaching a sermon entitled, "The Audacity of Pope." :D

Please note the change of venue below:

I am going to be in the area so I might come and enjoy the talk(s).

I heard Mr. Strange speak (via DVD) on justification at the conference that Winnipeg URC hosted a few years ago and it was excellent. He was very passionate and I was very convicted.

You are invited to join us for a
Reformation Day lecture
8:00PM
on Friday, October 31, 2008.

Topic: "Scripture in the Hands of the People"
Speaker: Rev. John P. Marcus
Location: 15911 107A Ave, Edmonton, Alberta

What was the cost of bringing Scriptures to the hands of the people?
Who were the men God used to bring the Scriptures to us?
Why is it so important to have the Scriptures available to us?
How must we cherish the Scriptures, now that they are available?
