Oorah! Of course, Fox News, like most civilians, don't realize that calling a Marine an ex-Marine is a huge No, No. There are no ex-Marines - only Marines or, if you must, former Marines.
Maybe retired Marines?
But wouldn't that assume you were tired to begin with?
Retired is OK too. Seriously, since a "pup" I've been trained never refer to a former Marine as an ex-Marine.
I also never refer to a Medal of Honor recipient as a Medal of Honor winner as if he was in some sort of contest or just, by chance, got the medal.
