Seriously what was wrong with (Pseudo) Clement 2?

So I was just reading the Apostolic Fathers in greek to improve my fluency in reading koine
For the Lord Himself, being asked by one when His kingdom would come, replied, When two shall be one, that which is without as that which is within, and the male with the female, neither male nor female. Now, two are one when we speak the truth one to another, and there is unfeignedly one soul in two bodies....

Wow whoever wrote this quotes the gnostic Gospel of Thomas(same gospel which says women must become men to be a part of Gods kingdom and attributes those blasphemies to Jesus) and allegorizes that quote to bring a non-gnostic meaning out of it
Is this coz he wanted to make that gnostic gospel(no gospel at all) more famous?

In all this I thank God for the reformers and Sola Scriptura
If I had to rely on these erring Fathers and consider the consensus patruum to be infallible I would have gone astray and worshipped idols long back! God's word alone is sufficient

When the Papists call the Fathers infallible clearly what they do is they don't read the good parts of the Fathers but worship their idolatries and errors as Calvin says
"these pious sons, forsooth, with the peculiar acuteness of intellect, and judgment, and soul, which belongs to them, adore only their slips and errors, while those things which are well said they either overlook, or disguise, or corrupt"(Prefatory address to Monarch of France in the Institutes)
Where would we be without the Firm Foundation of God's Word?!

A couple thoughts:

(1) the Gospel of Thomas isn’t *that* Gnostic. Some weird gender sayings maybe but it’s hardly the Apocryphon of John. People play up its connection with Gnosticism based on texts it has been found with, but that might not be a sound procedure.

(2) this saying might have circulated independently, so it’s not certain Clement would get it from the Gospel of Thomas.

(3) Clement is too early to benefit from easy access to all canonical gospels and all the sorting and thinking into what was canonical and not that happened in the first few centuries of the church’s existence. We have a more accurate canon than him, so we should have some patience for how difficult it must have been for him to source, check, and verify Jesus-sayings.

The saying could be a reflection of our Lord's teaching on the resurrection. Matt. 22:30, "For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven." It is not literally one soul in two bodies. It is a way of saying that inwardly in our souls we are all the same.
