Here is the message I posted at my URL
After much prayer and consideration I have decided to shut down the website. Before my detractors form their own opinion about why this has happened let me list a few FACTS.
1) My work place still has NO PROBLEM with me running this site. No one has asked me to shut it down.
2) I am still a happily employed house parent!
3) I still love my work place-it’s the best childcare facility in the world.
4) I still believe in everything I’ve ever written, posted, or said 100%
5) I’ve not ruled out a return one day.
Now, some reasons I’ve chosen to shut it down.
1) Those who agree with me don’t need the site or anything it offers. THANK GOD for those people!!!!
2) Those who disagree aren’t going to change based on anything I write or say on my podcasts. This is a big one folks, I’ve always held out some hope that I could “convince” my detractors that they are in error, that I could somehow sell them on my ideas, but I no longer believe that this site can or will accomplish that. I still believe that I can be an influence for change in this industry and believe that I will one day, but that day is not now and the method is not this site.
3) I will focus more on the kids. I already focus a lot on the kids in our facility (and others outside our facility as well), but without this site I will have even more time to do this. It’s the CHILDREN who will listen, it’s the children who will accept advice, it’s the children who can be shaped and molded. As such I will take the time I once used on this site to do just those things.
4) I hope to begin College Courses ASAP.
5) I want to focus on larger, more immediate goals within this line of work right where I am now.
Thank you to all who have read what I’ve written, listened to the podcasts, and interacted with me in any way. I’ve loved every minute of it and will miss it in some ways. It’s my prayer that you’ve not heard the last of me as a voice within this field; I’m just taking another path to have my voice become more substantial. I would appreciate your prayers!
To my kids who’ve read and or listened-don’t lose heart! I am now and forever will be a source of support and encouragement to you all. If anything, without this site I am not more available for you than I’ve ever been. You all are who give me hope and cause me to rise each day desiring to go to work, check my e-mail, and see what it is I can do! I never have and never shall and will continue to insist that we DON’T LIE TO KIDS!
