For those of you who may be investigating alternatives to Facebook and Twitter in the light of their censorship and other problems, I have tried a few of the newer ones like MeWe and Parler, but these too are rife with problems and vulnerabilities. There is an older option that has been around for many years now, decentralized and "federated" (kinda like the old dial-up BBSes of yesterday). People rarely hear about it, but it's older and better than the new arrivals that have made the news.

It's called Diaspora, and it's a part of "the Fediverse" that includes Mastodon, Friendica, Hubzilla, and others. It's even possible for anyone to run their very own Diaspora server using free, open-source software. If you run your own, you can choose to federate with other servers (called "pods") or not. It's pretty darn cool, and it's older and more widely used than the new centralized social media sites.

Diaspora needs more Reformed folks to help "bring balance to the Force," so to speak. If this kinda thing interests you, you can click here to accept my invitation to join us.

Thanks!
